Dermal Filler Treatment Options

Filler is used to plump out a very targeted area of the face for a rejuvenated look. It can smooth out wrinkles or add volume for more contour. Sometimes, even losing weight can leave areas of the face lacking volume that gives a youthful shape. Fillers can help with those concerns as well. Here are a few of the filler options we offer:

  • Lip Fillers: Get fuller, softer lips with precision filler techniques. Our Restylane Kysse is a favorite for its subtle, natural lip enhancement–perfect for adding volume without looking overdone. We specialize in natural looking lip injections.
  • Cheek Fillers: Sculpt and contour your cheeks with our advanced fillers, such as Restylane Lyft and Juvederm Voluma. As one of the best cheek fillers in Salt Lake City, our injectors can restore volume and create a lifted, youthful appearance that lasts up to 24 months.
  • Wrinkle Fillers: From fine lines to deeper creases, we use top-of-the-line products like Juvederm Vollure and Restylane Defyne to smooth away the signs of aging. These fillers offer long-lasting wrinkle reduction, giving you a refreshed, rejuvenated look.
  • Chin Fillers: If you’ve seen any before or afters of chin filler, you know how powerful and important a strong chin is for full facial balancing. A syringe of filler such as Juvederm Volux can create a beautiful result with a more balanced profile.

Juvéderm Ultra & Ultra Plus -Hyaluronic acid

Juvéderm has a nice thickness to it that makes it great for volumizing and is commonly used in the lips for luscious, full lips. It can also be used in the jawline, chin, and nasolabial folds. You can expect it to last 6+ months.

Restylane-Hyaluronic acid

Restylane is similar to Juvederm but is slightly softer. It is also commonly used in the lips, nasolabial folds and is a go-to for many injectors under the eyes. You can expect it to last 6+ months.

Vollure-Hyaluronic acid

Vollure is a very soft filler used to treat superficial and fine lines. It can also be used on the lips to give a more hydrated look. Because it is so soft, it spreads easily and can be used virtually anywhere on the face. You can expect it to last 12+ months.

Restylane Defyne-Hyaluronic acid

Defyne is similar to Juvederm or Restylane but has a newer technology that allows it to flex with the tissue. It works well in nasolabial folds, lips, marionette lines, and to etch out any deeper creases. You can expect it to last 12+ months.

Volbella-Hyaluronic acid

Another beautiful filler brought to you from the Juvederm family of fillers. This filler is known for its subtle refinements in helping etch out superficial lines. It also can be placed in the lips for a subtle, natural lip result.

Restylane Refyne-Hyaluronic acid

Refyne is a beautiful soft filler similar to Vollure, with perhaps a little more volume to it. Due to newer technology, it allows it to flex beautifully, creating a more natural result. Hillary loves to put this in thinner or aging lips as it adds some volume without looking “ducky” or fake. It also can be used to etch out any superficial or fine lines. You can expect it to last 12+ months.

Radiesse-Calcium Hydroxylapatite

This unique filler comes in a 1.5ml prefilled syringe as opposed to virtually all the other ones that come in 1ml syringes. Unlike its hyaluronic acid counterparts, this filler stimulates collagen production. It is great for cheeks, jawline, temporal hollows, and chin augmentation. You can expect it to last 6-12+ months depending on how your body responds to it.

Juvederm Skinvive

The latest and greatest in skin health is Juvederm Skinvive. Technically not a filler, but similarly injected into the skin with a tiny needle like fillers are. Skinvive is a new category of injectable skin health. It is a very soft hyaluronic acid based product that is placed right under the skin around the cheeks and lower face to provide a subtle plump and hydration. Downtime is minimal. Maybe 1-2 days with potential for minimal bruising. Results are an immediate glow. Results last 6+ months.

A very unique filler that is used to restore global volume loss due to aging. This filler works by stimulating your body’s natural process to make more collagen. Frequently Asked Questions

Although many people fear they may end up with overdone lips, frozen foreheads, or a look that feels overfull, this is not the case with a highly trained hand and a listening ear. Cosmetic injections can be subtle and natural to maintain a youthful look and that is our primary goal and focus at Modern SLC.

A cannula is different from a regular needle. It is skinny and long like a needle, but instead of having a sharp point on the end, it is round and closed. The hole where the filler comes out is on the side. A needle is used to make a small opening or channel in the skin and then the cannula is inserted which allows the injector access under the skin to “push” through the tissues instead of “pierce” the tissues like a needle. This technique is used to reduce bruising and to use in places to avoid complications with blood vessels making this a safer alternative to utilizing a needle.

While this procedure is lowkey and many first-time clients leave saying “Oh, that’s all it was?!” there are some important steps to take for post-treatment care! It is best to avoid anything that can thin the blood or make you bruise such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or alcohol for 7 days before the injection. Filler can cause some mild swelling for 3-5 days after but resolves within the first week or two. It is best to get Filler done at least 2 weeks before any big event to make sure you have enough time to heal from the procedure.

Of course, this is by far one of the most common concerns people have when getting injected, and rightfully so. Like anything, lip injections can be done poorly, overdone, and appear “off” due to poor product choice or inexperienced injectors. Our clinicians take their time to discuss your desired results to make sure you’re both on the same page to eliminate this risk. Additionally, we can show you how your lips are looking during the process to make sure you are comfortable with the desired outcome. Our goal is for you to LOVE your injections.

Each patient is different and their filler will last different lengths. That being said, please don’t get your lips filled every six months because an injector said so, as there may still be plenty of product in there in six months time. The good news is that if you don’t need filler, our practitioners here at Modern will always say no. We understand that injections can become addictive in one’s quest for the holy grail of youth, but we will keep you in check.

Fillers are broken down naturally by your body over numerous months, depending on how much is injected, what type of product is used and where it is injected. This occurs very gradually and naturally. However, if you are dissatisfied or need any adjustment to dermal filler placements, there is the option to have it “dissolved” if seeing an undesirable effect. Hyaluronidase is a medication that immediately breaks down the dermal filler. Although this is extremely uncommon at Modern SLC. We may need to make slight adjustments, but rarely do we completely dissolve all the filler placed.

Fillers do not really move much from where you place them therefore it would most likely not be an issue. That being said, because there is no 100% guarantee on the outcome, we suggest avoiding getting injections while pregnant. However, most nursing hotlines and OB/GYNs will tell you it is safe to do while breastfeeding.

Depending on the area treated and the product used, results can last from 6 months to 24 months.

At Modern SLC, our experienced injectors use the perfect amount of filler to achieve natural, beautiful results.

Our fillers are reversible, so if you’re unhappy with the outcome, we can make adjustments.

Other Things to Consider With Dermal Fillers

  • Schedule your injection appointment 4-6 weeks prior to all special events and vacations.
  • Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours prior if you have a rash, cold sore, or large blemish in the planned treatment area.
  • Notify your provider if you have a history of cold sores and plan to have lip injections – your provider may prescribe an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.
  • Eat a good breakfast to avoid lightheadedness during your treatment.
  • To reduce the chance of bruising, avoid alcohol and other blood thinning/anti-inflammatory medications (aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3 Fish Oil, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, etc.) for 5 days before treatment.
  • Avoid dental work (cleanings, root canals, filling) for 2 weeks before and after filler injections to avoid excessive bacteria in the treatment area.
  • We will NOT treat pregnant women with neurotoxins, fillers, Kybella, or other injectables.
  • Swelling may be present for 5-7 days and optimal results will be seen after 14 days.

If there are any areas that need slight adjustments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Any additional filler that is needed will be at the regular cost per syringe.
