Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics will help you identify what Ozempic is all about. We’ll discuss all the benefits and effects of how Ozempic can let you achieve your goal. Check out this blog post for more details.
Medications For Losing Weight
Since the 1990s, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has looked at and approved several prescription drugs to help overweight or obese people lose weight. Some of these drugs were better known for the bad things they did than for how well they helped people lose weight. For instance, Orlistat, which the FDA approved in 1999, was linked to oily leakage from the rectal area, gas, or abnormal bowel movements. The FDA approved Lorcaserin in 2012. But it was taken off the market in 2020 because there were fears that it caused cancer. There are also several so-called “supplements for weight loss.” Dietary supplements are not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration prescription and over-the-counter drugs (FDA).
New Ways For Losing Weight
In 2014, the FDA approved liraglutide for long-term weight management in obese or overweight adults with medical conditions related to their weight. While in 2020, the FDA increased the age range of people who could use it to include those 12 years and older. Last 2021, the FDA approved GLP-1 to help obese or overweight adults with high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes mellitus, or high cholesterol control their weight long-term.
What About GLP-1?
Ozempic (GLP-1) is an analog of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that causes beta cells in the pancreas to make more insulin when blood glucose levels are high. It is a drug for weight loss that the FDA has approved. GLP-1 slows down the emptying of the stomach, making you feel full for longer. It also makes you less hungry, so you eat less and lose weight.
How Does it Work?
At Modern SLC Injections & Aesthetics, you’ll have to come in for a consultation to see if you can get GLP-1 injections. The injections are given once a week with a tiny needle under the skin in the back of your arm or your stomach. If you can’t come in every week, we’ll teach you how to give yourself the injections at home. Every week, your dose will vary based on a new evaluation. Once you’ve reached your goal weight, we’ll slowly lower your amount until you no longer take it.
How Much Will it Cost You?
Healthcare experts suggest you get a shot once a week for at least four weeks. For $500 a month, you can buy a package that includes four injections of GLP-1 and, if you want, shots of vitamin B12.
Risk & Side Effects
Suppose you or someone in your family has had thyroid nodules or thyroid cancer (like Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia, Type 2). In that case, you will not be able to get this treatment. GLP-1 is okay for people with other thyroid diseases. There are always some side effects with any medicine. You might feel full, lose your appetite, feel sick, or have pain in your stomach. Most of the time, nausea gets better as you keep taking GLP-1. We also give shots of vitamin B12 to help with sickness.

Can Ozempic Help You Lose Weight?
The FDA has given Ozempic the green light to help people with diabetes better control their blood sugar and lower their risk of getting heart disease. The FDA does not yet approve Ozempic as a weight loss drug, but many studies have looked into how GLP-1 agonist drugs affect weight loss. In a 2009 study comparing the effects of liraglutide, Orlistat®, and placebo on weight loss, people who took liraglutide lost, on average, 11 to 16 pounds (4.8 to 7.2 kilograms) over 20 weeks. In a 68-week trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine in March 2021, adults who were overweight or obese and took GLP-1 lost 15% of their body weight and improved their physical function and heart disease risk factors. One study suggests injectable GLP-1 works better than oral liraglutide to help people lose weight.
When you stop taking Ozempic, what happens?
Drugs that act like GLP-1 do not always cause weight loss that lasts. In clinical trials, when people stopped taking GLP-1, they regained most of the weight they had lost. When people stopped taking GLP-1, their blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure increased. This suggests that they must keep taking the drug to lose weight and lower their risk factors for heart disease.
Ozempic vs. Wegovy
Some people confuse the effectiveness of Ozempic with Wegovy. But how do they differ? The active ingredient in Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus is the same: GLP-1. But the drugs are given in different amounts and are used to treat other problems. Ozempic and Rybelsus are only approved to help adults with diabetes better control their blood sugar. Wegovy, on the other hand, is authorized to help people lose weight.
Is GLP-1 (Ozempic) Safe?
GLP-1 agonist drugs, like GLP-1 (Wegovy®, Ozempic®, Rybelsus®), and liraglutide (Saxenda®), are usually well-tolerated and don’t cause significant side effects. Some of these drugs’ most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhoea.
